Murder charges filed in trooper death

Murder charges have now come down in the case of the Missouri Highway Patrol trooper who died in the line of duty.

 

Serghei Comerzan of Mexico is accused of second degree murder and felony resisting arrest.

 

Trooper James Bava (pictured) died in a one-car crash while trying to stop a motorcycle rider in rural Audrain County on August 28.

 

The 21-year-old Comerzan is also accused of several misdemeanors, including speeding more than 25 miles an hour over the legal limit. According to court documents, he admitted to speeding up to 105 miles an hour once he saw Bava try to pull him over on Audrain County Route FF, which has a 55 mph limit.
