“Justice League” lead Ray Fisher on working with “Scandal” star Joe Morton: “It was absolutely invaluable”

© 2017 WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC. AND RATPAC-DUNE ENTERTAINMENT LLC(NEW YORK) — Ray Fisher, who plays Victor Stone/Cyborg, a half-man, half-machine superhero in Warner Brothers’ Justice League, is praising his fatherly co-star Joe Morton. According to Fisher, Morton, who plays Silas Stone in the film, became an “invaluable” asset to his growth as an actor.

Well, I will say he’s completely a character. Meeting Joe and being able to work with him — live and in real time — it was absolutely invaluable,” Fisher tells ABC Radio. “Being able to be in the same room and see the level of professionalism…”

One of the things that impressed Fisher during the filming of the Justice League was Morton’s ability to juggle his multiple projects, which included ABC’s Scandal and his Broadway play Turn Me Loose, a comedic drama based on the life of comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory.

“You know he’s bouncing back and forth while we’re shooting,” Fisher explained. “Going back to shoot Scandal, coming back. Doing his off Broadway play, coming back. Doing Scandal again, coming back for another day of Justice League. Finally I said to him, ‘How do you do it? Like how do you keep what you’re doing straight?'”

Fisher says Morton then gave me some life-changing advice.

“He’s like, ‘Listen, you don’t necessarily get these kinds of opportunities all the time as an actor, which we all know to be true. More than most of the time, we’re unemployed.’ He said, ‘But, when you get those bursts, you have to ride it as long as it’s something you’re passionate about and that you care about. You just take it as it comes.'”

Fisher continued, “And being able to sit back and watch his consummate professionalism it was invaluable for me to see as a young actor.”

Justice League is now in theaters.
