ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — On Thursday night Jimmy Kimmel Live! host Jimmy Kimmel talked about his Twitter “war” with Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. The former judge — who has faced allegations he denies of sexual assault and unwanted sexual advances of teenage girls while in his 30s — challenged Jimmy to come to Alabama, and in his monologue, Kimmel accepted.
“I’m going to come to Gadsden, Alabama, with a team of high school cheerleaders, OK?” Kimmel said.
“We’ll meet you at the mall. Don’t worry, I can get you in,” the host joked. According to some published reports, Moore was banned from a mall there years ago for harassing young girls. “We’ll sit down at the food court over Panda Express and talk about Christian values.”
The spat started after Kimmel sent one of his writers, Tony Barbieri, to an Alabama church, where Moore was giving a speech on Wednesday night, in character as a Moore supporter, “Jake Byrd.”
Kimmel showed video of the incident. In the video, protesters in the back heckled Moore, Barbieri — in character — went to the front of the church and shouted back, “The judge is a man’s man!’ adding, “Does that look like the face of a molester?” Barbieri was later escorted out by police.
Moore tweeted a Brietbart article about the incident, writing, “@jimmykimmel If you want to mock our Christian values, come down here to Alabama and do it man to man. #ALSen.”
Kimmel responded, “Sounds great Roy – let me know when you get some Christian values and I’ll be there!”
In his monologue, while talking about meeting Moore, Jimmy added, “…maybe you’re challenging me to a fight, which is kind of what it sounds like. If you are, I accept, by the way. I accept that invitation.”
Moore has yet to respond.
