Lucasfilms/ Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures(LOS ANGELES) — Mark Hamill is paying tribute to his Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher one year after her death.
In a Twitter post, Hamill wrote, “No one’s ever really gone…,” referencing a line his character, Luke Skywalker, tells Fisher’s character, General Leia Organa, in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Hamill also includes the hashtags #AlwaysWithUs and #CarrieOnForever in the post.
The touching tribute is accompanied by two pictures of Hamill and Fisher. The first is from the ’70s, when the two first became friends while filming Episode IV: A New Hope, and the second is a picture of the two in 2015. The third picture Hamill posted is a drawing of Fisher humorously dressed as a princess, holding her beloved dog Gary while flipping the bird.
“I’m selfishly mad that she’s not here to make me laugh,” Hamill told People of his Jedi twin. “But I’m also grateful for all that she was able to give us while she was here. It has not been easy.”
Fisher makes her final on-screen appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, in theaters now. The film also carries a dedication to Fisher. #CarrieOnForever was also a trending topic on Twitter Wednesday.
Fisher died last December 27, four days after she stopped breathing on board a plane just before it landed at Los Angeles International Airport. She was 60. Her mother, film legend Debbie Reynolds, died the next day, following a stroke.
