Neil Patrick Harris’ favorite holiday tradition: “Living in New York”

ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — Neil Patrick Harris would take a wintry New York Christmas over a sunny California Christmas any day. The actor is relishing the holiday season in the Big Apple this year.

“I think my favorite holiday tradition, honestly, is living in New York,” Harris tells ABC Radio.

After growing up in Albuquerque and living in L.A. for many years, Harris currently resides in Harlem with his husband, David Burtka, and their twins, Gideon and Harper.

“It’s nice to live in New York and have the coat and the scarf and Rockefeller Center and ice skating and the Rockettes show and looking at windows,” he gushes. “There’s just something about the holiday season that is so quintessential to me here.”

He adds, “And then watching the holidays through the eyes of our children takes it to an understandably whole other level.”

Harris has lots of things to be grateful for this season. He recently released his first children’s book, The Magic Misfits, and is planning more books in the series. The second season of his Netflix show, A Series of Unfortunate Events, will debut early next year.
