Scott Baio denies sexually abusing underage “Charles in Charge” co-star, Nicole Eggert

ABC NewsScott Baio is further defending himself against claims he molested his former Charles in Charge co-star Nicole Eggert when she was underage.

In a Wednesday interview with Good Morning America’s Amy Robach, Baio claimed it was Eggert who “seduced” him, and that she was over 18 at the time.

“She aggressively sought me out because she wanted me to be her first so that she would be good for her boyfriend, those are her words,” said Baio.

He added, “She said we had sex long after Charles in Charge was done. So Nicole Eggert was born in January of 1972, Charles in Charge ended in the fall of 1990 so that would have made her an adult, 18 plus.”

Furthermore, Baio said it would have been “impossible” for them to have ever been alone together on set when she was a minor.  “When a child is on a set, they’re either in school or they’re on the set with the teacher and their parents,” he said. “That’s it.”

When pressed if they ever saw each other off set — one of Eggert’s tweets specifically mentioned Baio’s garage — the actor said, “I have no idea what that means.”

Baio said he’s responding so adamantly because of his 10-year-old daughter, whom he said “does not need to be hearing about this from friends at school, these false allegations.  Her job is not to defend me. My job is defend my daughter. Her job is to be 10 years old. And that’s why this has got to stop.”

Eggert claimed Tuesday on Megyn Kelly Today that Baio first molested her when she was 14, and that they had sex when she was 17. The age of consent in California is 18 and Baio is more than 11 years older than Eggert.
