Jason Aldean tells Ellen that meeting Las Vegas survivors gave him new perspective

ABC/Image Group LAFollowing Jason Aldean‘s third Entertainer of the Year win at the ACM Awards Sunday evening, he visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, where he discussed returning to Las Vegas six months after Route 91 Harvest.

Jason was on stage performing when a man fired into the festival crowd, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds of other country fans. The “You Make It Easy” singer recounted the tragedy to Ellen DeGeneres, admitting he didn’t know what was happening at the time.

“That’s the last thing you think is going to be happening during a show,” he tells Ellen. “Everyone was stunned and didn’t know what to do.”

The singer has since returned to Vegas to visit those injured and admits it was an eye-opening experience.

“It was tough to go back and see people in the hospital, some of them in comas and things like that. It was rough, one of the hardest things I probably ever had to do,” he confesses.

“Seeing them and the strength they had, just happy to be alive and make it through that, it allowed me to look at it in a different light, too,” Jason added. “If these people can make it back and have that sort of attitude, I got nothing to be whining about.”

Jason paid tribute to the victims of Route 91 Harvest at the start of the ACM Awards as well as during his acceptance speech.

“To my Route 91 people, you guys are in my heart always and we love Las Vegas,” he said.
