The Gambler’s Last Deal ends early, as Kenny Rogers cancels his 2018 shows

Donald Kravitz/Getty ImagesAt age 79, Kenny Rogers was already winding down his final year of touring. But it looks like he may be forced to end his last stand early: He’s canceled his shows through the end of 2018.

“Kenny Rogers has been working through a series of health challenges,” his publicist said in a statement. “His doctors fully expect the outcome to be great, but they have advised him to cancel all performances through the end of the year to focus on recuperation.”

Whatever his health concerns are specifically, the Country Music Hall of Famer is still maintaining his sense of humor.

“I didn’t want to take forever to retire,” Kenny says. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to say farewell to the fans over the course of the past two years on The Gambler’s Last Deal tour.  I could never properly thank them for the encouragement and support they’ve given me throughout my career and the happiness I’ve experienced as a result of that.”

It’s not clear if the dates will be rescheduled. Those with tickets can get a refund at the point of purchase.
