“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” premieres in Los Angeles: expect “more of a horror film this time around”

Universal(LOS ANGELES) — The cast and crew of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom strolled down the gray carpet at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday, telling fans of the franchise to expect the unexpected.

The highly awaited sequel takes place three years after the events of 2015’s Jurassic World. Chris Pratt reprises his role as Owen, but the stars and director told ABC Radio at the premiere that this sequel is nothing like the first.

“You’re going to see a little bit more of a horror film this time around,” Colin Tevorrow — writer, producer, and director of the first film — tells ABC Radio. “It’s going to be very scary, very suspenseful, but hopefully a little bit more emotional too.”

Fallen Kingdom director J.A. Bayona agreed with his predecessor.

“It’s about what they don’t expect,” Bayona adds. “That was the biggest challenge of this film. The risk of taking the story out of the island and bringing it to a place that we’ve never seen before.”

However, star Jeff Golbum says there’s one thing that remains the same: “dinosaurs.”

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom roars into theaters June 22.
