ABC/Randy HolmesIf you didn’t get a pair of Michael Ray’s Limited-Edition Puma Classic Suede sneakers, the bad news is they’re all sold out. The good news is, Michael managed to raise a lot of money for his animal charity, Wrigley Cares, in the process.
Michael named his mission after his rescue dog, Wrigley, that he adopted last summer in Chicago. Since then, fans have been bringing dog toys, food and donations to the Florida native’s shows, which he, in turn, gives to local shelters. He designed the shoes as a partnership with Zappos, with all proceeds going to North Shore Animal League America.
“One of the best things about the country music community is the fact that we are a community,” Michael observes. “When you ask fans for their help, they always show up. I never dreamed that Wrigley Cares could turn into what it’s become, and I owe it all to my fans.”
Monday night, Michael made his late-night-TV debut, performing his new single, “One That Got Away,” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!. You can check out his performance on YouTube.
