"Smokin’ and Drinkin’" and writin’: Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town jump on the Bandwagon

ABC/Image Group LA On Thursday, Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town set The Bandwagon Tour in motion, playing their first date in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The nearly-twenty-show trek is something the two acts have been working on for a long time.

“We’ve been talking about doing this tour for years,” Miranda explains. “We’ve been in the same dressing room for years at ACMs and at all the other awards shows and finally, we’re just like, ‘Let’s make this happen!'”

The “Drowns the Whiskey” hitmaker hopes she and LBT will walk away with some new tunes by the time the tour is over.

“We’re excited to write together too,” she adds. “We’ve just been throwing around ideas for so long.”

Miranda admits the thing she’s looking forward to the most is just hanging out with her pals.

“I think it’s really cool, because longtime friendships mean the world to me,” she says, “especially in a business like this, you know, where people are actually lifting each other up, not trying to tear each other down.”

“And Little Big Town is a prime example of that,” she goes on. “They don’t make enemies, ever. They have all the friends in the world. So I’m excited about it.”

But will there be some “Smokin’ and Drinkin’,” just like their collaborative single from 2015 suggests?

“I mean, surely there has to be!” Miranda laughs. “Have you met Little Big Town?”

Miranda and LBT will spend most of the summer together, until the tour wraps August 25 in Chicago.
