Kenny Chesney’s "Songs for the Saints" sails to a #1 debut

Blue Chair/Warner Bros. NashvilleAs expected, Kenny Chesney’s new record, Songs for the Saints, debuts at #1 this week on the country albums chart.

Kenny’s first release for his new label, Warner Nashville, sold more than 77,000 equivalent album units in its first week.  The album entered the all-genre Billboard 200 tally at #2.

The superstar from East Tennessee is donating all the money he makes from the album to help the Virgin Islands recover from last year’s devastating hurricanes.

“This album means the world to me,” Kenny says, “because of what it’s about and what it means to the people of the Virgin Islands.”

“A lot of who I am is because of the time I’ve spent down there, and how it’s shaped the man I’ve become,” he adds. “It’s how I see the world, and how my music has evolved. So the fact No Shoes Nation has supported this record – a record where all the proceeds go to island recovery – does my heart good.”

Songs for the Saints is Kenny’s 15th album to debut in the top ten on the all-genre ranking.
