Sugarland’s back in the running for the CMAs, and so is their pal Taylor Swift

ABC/Randy HolmesAt last November’s CMA Awards, Sugarland‘s Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush gave us the first hint they might be getting back together, when they reunited to present the Vocal Duo trophy to Brothers Osborne.

Fast forward to now, and they’re back in the running for Vocal Duo themselves. They have a Video of the Year nod, too, for their current hit, “Babe,” featuring Taylor Swift. They also have a new album, Bigger, and are currently on their Still the Same Tour.

“What a difference a year makes!” Kristian smiles.

“Yeah, for sure,” Jennifer agrees. “Our team has done such a great job in a short amount of time. When we made the decision and said ‘Go,” they jumped in and went…”

“It’s nice to be back in the mix,” she continues, “and I think nicest of all to have made a great record that we’re so proud of, and to be out there touring it for the fans.”

With the Video nomination, Sugarland is also bringing Taylor Swift back into the country fold.

“We are super-grateful, obviously, for ‘Babe,'” Jennifer begins. “It’s such a great song and it fits so well within the context of our record. So I think the song itself sets the table for everything else.”

She goes on to explain why it’s no surprise Taylor has another CMA nom: “Taylor obviously is so beloved…within the country community and has been since she started. And even as she has blossomed and expanded and evolved in her art, she continues to be so well-loved within the country world.”

“So it makes sense that this collaboration is being celebrated…and I love that we’ve gotten the chance to be a part of it.”

Find out if Sugarland can add to their trophy collection November 14, when the CMA Awards air live on ABC.
