Kelsea Ballerini admits she "freaked out" the first time she heard her voice on pop radio, thanks to her collaboration with The Chainsmokers

ABC/Mitch HaasethAs her single, “Miss More More,” climbs the country chart, Kelsea Ballerini‘s simultaneously experiencing her first taste of pop success with her collaboration with The Chainsmokers, “This Feeling.”

“This Chainsmokers song, I’ve never gotten to do anything like this,” Kelsea told ABC Radio during a recent interview in Hollywood. “I’ve never had a collaboration like this, I’ve never heard my voice on pop radio.”

“It’s been awesome, and a new experience,” she adds. “And I love those guys, and I love the song, and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

The “Legends” hitmaker precisely remembers the first moment she heard her voice on pop radio.

“I was actually out here in L.A. and I was going to dinner,” she recalls. “I had just wrapped my music video for ‘Miss Me More,’ my country single, and I heard it, and I freaked out.” she laughs.

This week, “This Feeling” is at #5 on Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, right next to someone Kelsea knows well. Maren Morris is in the #4 spot with “The Middle,” her non-country collaboration with Zedd and Grey.
