Mizzou has fired longtime head baseball coach Steve Bieser, and the school says a national search for its next baseball coach begins immediately.

Mizzou athletics director Desiree Reed-Francois announced the firing on Sunday afternoon, saying the terms of Bieser’s contract will be honored by Mizzou Athletics.

“Coach Bieser represented the university with a high level of character and integrity. We are grateful for his contributions to our program, on and off the field, and we wish him, Diahann, and their family the very best in the future.”

Diahann Bieser is the coach’s wife. They live in Columbia. Coach Bieser’s record in seven seasons is 188-155-1. They were 30-24 this year and made the SEC tournament.

Reed-Francois describes baseball as important to Mizzou, the SEC and the state. She says Mizzou is committed to further increasing their investment in the program, and that they look forward to future successes.
