arrests in a jefferson city shooting

Police in Jefferson City say they’ve tracked down the sixth suspect in a Friday night shooting. They say 17-year-old Kaleb Gilpin of Jefferson City was located on Wardsville Road in Cole County Tuesday afternoon. Investigators released his picture earlier in the day.

There’s no word yet on a possible motive for the six suspects arrested in connection with the shooting.

Jefferson City Police have made most of the arrests connected to a weekend shooting, but not all.

Officers responded to a house on East Dunklin Friday night, and found a 33-year-old victim inside who was hit by a bullet. Police Captain Doug Shoemaker says multiple divisions of his department quickly took action.

“Not only were our detectives involved,” Shoemaker says, “but also our narcotics detectives and Community Action Team members. And we began to get information that led to a number of leads on the case, including suspects.”

Shoemaker says officers arrested three suspects on Sunday, and two more on Monday. All of the Jefferson City residents are suspected of first-degree assault and armed criminal action: Javier Morris, 17; Dennis Summers, 24; Onterion Sullivan, 20; Keiondrey Morris , 18; and also a 16 year-old male juvenile.

JC Police are still looking for 17-year-old Kaleb Gilpin (pictured above) in connection with the case, and say he may still be armed. They ask anyone who sees him or knows his whereabouts to call the Jefferson City Police Department or CrimeStoppers.
