election returns

Not many people went to the polls in mid Missouri yesterday. Municipal
elections dominated the landscape along with school board elections.

In Jefferson City…fourth ward voters make a change in city council representatives. Incumbent Carrie Tergin is voted out in favor of political newcomer Glen Costales. (537 – 490). Incumbent Tami Turner is also ousted from her seat on the Jefferson City school board in favor of Steve Bruce. Incumbents John Ruth and Ken Theroff retained their seats.

Jefferson City voters also approve eliminating city primary elections.

In the Blair Oaks School District…Matt Fifer, Peggy Luebbert and Tim Van
Ronzelen pick up the three vacant positions on the board.

Lucas Fitzpatrick defeats Aaron Hazelton in the Holts Summit Mayor’s
race. (63-24)

Larry Crocker defeats Ronnie Moore in the Russellville mayors race.

In Columbia…voters approve a 50-million dollar bond issue for a new
elementary school.

In the city of Osage Beach…Penny Lyon beat Bill Stone for
mayor…getting 34 of only 38 votes cast in the election.
