brutal child abuse allegation

Yesterday Jefferson City Police Detectives received a call from the Cole County Children’s Division about a child abuse case that occurred in the 700 block of Linden Drive.  The victim, who is the 5 year-old daughter of the suspect, claimed she was lying on the kitchen floor when her father kicked her in the face, then sent her to her room with an icepack.  The victim’s story was corroborated by her sister, along with physical evidence.  The girl’s wound to her face did not require medical attention

The suspect, Curtis Newell, 28 of Jefferson City, was arrested by Detectives and taken to Cole County Jail on the charge of Child Abuse.  He is currently incarcerated pending charges by the Prosecutor’s Office.
