state govt. retirees – they’ve hacked into ‘mosers’

Missouri’s main retirement systems has temporarily blocked online access after discovering attempts to hack into its members’ accounts.

The Jefferson City News Tribune reported the Missouri State Employees Retirement System sent about 81,000 emails and 20,000 letters to members Thursday explaining the situation.

It said someone gained “unauthorized access” to four members’ accounts and filled out online forms that required the use of the members’ Social Security numbers, retirement ID numbers and passwords.

Retirement system spokeswoman Candy Smith said the FBI and Missouri State Highway Patrol have been notified.

Retirement system members won’t be able to log into their accounts until Tuesday, and then will have to create new passwords.
