osage sheriff may be job hunting

The future of the Osage County Sheriff is up in the air. Yesterday, the Missouri Department of Public Safety revoked Sheriff Michael Dixon’s license as a peace officer after he admitted to harassing a Belle police officer. Under state law, sheriff’s are required to have a valid peace officer’s license…but Osage County prosecuting attorney Amanda Grellner says as an elected official, Dixon does not have to leave office unless Grellner or State Attorney General Chris Koster bring a warrant  against him. Osage County officials say they will meet behind closed doors today to determine how to proceed. Dixon can appeal the administrative decision in Cole County circuit court.
