Big Machine Label Group President and CEO Scott Borchetta, will officially begin appearing on FOX’s American Idol on Wednesday night as the hit show’s new in-house Mentor. Borchetta will guide the show’s contestants throughout the competition but his work will extend beyond the show’s finale when the winner receives a record a deal on Big Machine Records.
Borchetta, who was recently featured among the top 30 on this year’s Billboard “Power 100” list, will receive the Music Business Association’s most prestigious honor, the Presidential Award, this coming May. Previous recipients include Clive Davis, Sylvia Rhone, Dick Clark, and Ahmet Ertegun.
Borchetta was also recently named the 2015 recipient of the Country Music Association’s Jo Walker-Meador Award for advocating and supporting country music’s marketing development in territories outside the U.S. This is the second time he has been crowned with the CMA honor.
