Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour is coming in early 2018.
The CMA and Grammy winner describes her fourth album as “trippy,” borrowing stylistically from a diverse group of influences ranging from disco gods the Bee Gees, to soul chanteuse Sade, to folk/rock icon Neil Young.
Kacey explains the album’s title to Entertainment Weekly: “On this record, there’s the lonely girl, the blissful girl, the new wife, the girl that’s missing her mom, the angry girl, the sarcastic girl, the 60’s-sequined Cruella de Vil with the beehive, the shy girl, the life of the party, the winner, the loser — they’re all characters on this record.”
“None of them alone are me, but the golden hour is when they all come together and you see me as a whole,” she adds.
While the project includes mostly new tunes, it also boasts a fan favorite track that Kacey has often performed in concert, but she’s keeping it a secret for now.
Kacey adds that we can also expect more love songs on this set, mostly due to the fact that she’s now a married woman: she tied the knot with fellow musician Ruston Kelly back in October.
