Life’s Whatcha Make It: Jake Owen finds summer tour inspiration by heading "Down to the Honky Tonk"

Big Loud The name of Jake Owen‘s Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour was taken from the lyrics of a new song that hasn’t even been released yet.  When he was pondering what to call his summer trek, the Florida native realized a tune called “Down to the Honky Tonk” held the answer.

“There is an actual line in that song that says ‘I got friends in low places/Yeah, life’s what you make it,'” Jake explains. “As I thought for months about what’s this tour name gonna be… it hit me one day when I was listening to that song, that that’s how I live my life anyways!”

Basically, the “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” hitmaker believes life is all about your mindset.

“[If] you wake up in the morning and you’re happy and you go forward with a smile on your face and want to make it great, most likely, it’s gonna be a great day,” he says. “If you wake up on the wrong side of the bed with negativity in your mind, that’s pretty much how your day’s gonna go.”

Jake continues the thought: “I think for people coming out to concerts that are putting aside day-to-day life and coming out to have a good time and making life what it is, I thought it was pretty fitting.”

Unfortunately, all the positivity in the world couldn’t keep the opening dates on Jake’s Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour from getting rained out a couple weekends ago. Instead, he’ll crank things up this Saturday night with Chris Janson and Jordan Davis in North Augusta, South Carolina.
