Eric Church walks a "Higher Wire" on new "Desperate Man" track

EMI Nashville Eric Church is giving fans a taste of the most psychedelic song so far from his Desperate Man album: It’s called “Higher Wire.”

The Chief posted a :42 second clip to his socials on Friday, a day after debuting it for his Church Choir fan club members. The section of the song available now starts with blaring rock guitar, largely unintelligible lyrics, and a long bluesy section where Eric sings “whoa, whoa, whoa” repeatedly, before he utters the tune’s title, “Higher Wire.”

We’ll be able to hear the full version October 5, when the complete Desperate Man album arrives. The album’s title track and lead single is currently just a couple steps away from entering country’s top ten.

Meanwhile, the September/October issue of American Songwriter, which features Eric on the cover, is out now. If you want to check out the accompanying article, however, you’ll have to pick up a copy or pay for the digital version, as the magazine doesn’t publish its features online.
