Hold My Hand for One Week: Darius Rucker’s Hootie & the Blowfish set 2019 tour with Barenaked Ladies

ABC/Image Group LALong before Darius Rucker was a mainstay on Country radio with nine number-one singles, he was touring with his rock band Hootie & the Blowfish. In 2019, Cracked Rear View, the 21-times-platinum debut album by Hootie & the Blowfish, will turn 25. And in honor of the occasion, Hootie is hitting the road.

The band, led by Darius, will launch its Group Therapy Tour May 30 in Virginia Beach. Joining them for the trek will be another hitmaking band from the ’90s: Barenaked Ladies.

The Group Therapy Tour kicks off May 30 in Virginia Beach, VA, and is right now scheduled to wrap up in Columbia, South Carolina on September 13. Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public on Friday.

“Once the four of us met and started playing shows, we toured for years before signing a record deal,” Darius says in a statement.

Which brings up more news: Hootie & the Blowfish have signed a new record deal and plan to release a new album in 2019.

By the way, this isn’t exactly a “reunion” tour for Hootie: They continue to play together here and there, including an annual charity show. This past summer, they joined Jason Aldean and a few other country acts for one-off concert at Georgia’s SunTrust Park.
