ABC/Image Group LAYou might say Santa came early for Jimmie Allen this year, as the newcomer notched a multiple-week #1 with his debut single, “Best Shot.”
For the Delaware native, the holidays bring memories of Mercury Lane, the street where he grew up that also inspired the name of his first album.
“Christmas in Delaware growing up was cold,” he remembers. “There was snow. We’d do the tree. We’d do it a my grandmom’s house.”
“But the last Christmas my grandma was alive in 2014,” he adds, “we started a tradition where we do it at Disney World. So we’ll go down to Disney about December 23 through January 1 and just hang out.”
Since Jimmie is the father of a little boy, he says Christmas at Disney is really the best of both worlds.
“You know, with my son now, there’s nothing better than Santa Claus and Mickey Mouse,” he laughs. “And kinda once you set that bar…” he trails off.
“You know, it’s memories of my grandmom that kinda flood back,” Jimmie admits. “That’s why we go so much, and we want to make sure we go every year, to just kinda make a new tradition with my son and my siblings and stuff. So it’ll be fun.”
