Matthew Ramsey is ready to hit the stage again — with help from Dave Grohl’s rock and roll throne

ABC/Mark LevineFor Old Dominion’s first show since Matthew Ramsey’s surgery, the OD lead singer will be ascending to the rock throne.

The “Make It Sweet” hitmakers were forced to reschedule three dates on their tour earlier this month so their front man could take some time to repair an injury. But to make Matthew more comfortable onstage, they’re borrowing a special piece of equipment: a throne.

The impressive motorized black throne was created for Dave Grohol of Foo Fighters after he broke his leg during a gig in Sweden 2015. It’s adorned with a red Foo Fighters’ logo and a massive array of guitar necks coming out of its base. Most importantly, it allows the rock god occupying it to elevate his leg while sitting down to perform.

“First show post-surgery is going down with some help from our friends Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters!!!” the band tweeted on Wednesday, along with a picture of Matthew holding a crutch with Grohl’s throne in the background. They also added the hashtags #rockthrone and #theshowmustgoon.

In the past, Grohl also lent the throne to Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose after he broke a bone in his foot.

Old Dominion’s first outing with the rock throne is Wednesday night at Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia. On Thursday and Friday, the Make It Sweet Tour continues on to Asheville, North Carolina and North Charleston, South Carolina respectively.
