Old Dominion puts a country spin on Dave Grohl’s rock throne

RCA Nashville “Sittin’ but rockin’”: That pretty well sums up Matthew Ramsey’s situation on Old Dominion’s Make It Sweet Tour right now. That was also the caption of the first photo the band shared of their lead singer sitting on the famed rock throne, which they borrowed from the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl.

In the picture, Matthew and Brad Tursi are doing some intense jamming on their guitars, even though Matt happens to be sitting down. The band was forced to reschedule several of their February dates so he could take some time to have surgery on an old leg injury. That’s when Grohl came to the rescue, loaning him the on-stage throne he invented in 2015 when he fell off the stage and broke his leg.

Old Dominion has put their own country spin on the rock throne: The red Foo Fighters logo has been replaced by a two-toned wooden OD insignia, and the extension Grohl used to support his broken leg is missing, since Matthew’s able to put both feet on the chair’s base. If you look closely, you can see his crutch propped on the side.

OD will rock on this weekend — sitting down — on Thursday in Asheville, North Carolina and Friday in North Charleston, South Carolina.
