Four Mizzou swim club members remain hospitalized this morning in serious condition in Illinois, following a horrific crash and chemical spill this weekend in the Land of Lincoln.

ABC-17’s Hannah Falcon from our news partner KMIZ reports the four suffered chemical burns to their eyes, skin, throats and lungs, after being exposed to several thousand gallons of anhydrous ammonia. Hannah reports the tanker overturned on Highway 40 in Illinois. The crash also caused five deaths.

The four Mizzou students who are recovering in the ICU are Weston Hemmerling, Sarah Tague, Anja Dangelmaier and John Costello.

The Mizzou Swim Club says a GoFundMe has been created for the four students.
