Home prices in Columbia last month saw two records, according to the Columbia Board of Realtors.

The board says January single-family home prices saw a record in January, with the average price up 30 percent to $410,520. The Columbia Board of Realtors also says the median sales price in Columbia also saw a record high in January of $375,000, up 27 percent.

939 the Eagle’s Fred Parry and the president of Columbia’s largest bank discussed this issue on a recent edition of 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable.” Central Bank of Boone County president Ed Scavone told listeners in January that for years, housing costs in Columbia were lower than in St. Louis and Kansas City. Fred and Mr. Scavone say that’s not the case now.

Many of you are weighing in on the issue on our 939 the Eagle Facebook page. We appreciate all of your opinions.
