Raid yields 51 pounds of meth

A Columbia man is behind bars after a raid by Columbia police and federal agents last week found him in possession of 51 pounds of methamphetamine. 32-year-old Ronald Thornton III is charged with second-degree drug trafficking and is jailed without bond. Authorities armed with a search warrant entered an Airbnb Thornton was renting on Meadow Lane in Columbia. The search also turned up more than $15,000 in cash. Thornton was inside the home and arrested at the scene. He has priors for armed criminal action, robbery, burglary and unlawful use of a weapon.
