National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators are back in mid-Missouri’s Hartsburg area this afternoon, on-scene of Tuesday afternoon’s deadly plane crash in a heavily-wooded area near Highway 63.

Boone County Sheriff’s Captain Brian Leer tells 939 the Eagle that NTSB will be bringing in a special recovery company to recover the aircraft. Captain Leer has identified the victim as 58-year-old Wade Bates of West Fork, Arkansas.

NTSB spokesman Keith Holloway tells 939 the Eagle that an NTSB investigator is continuing to document the scene and examine the aircraft, which will then be recovered and taken to a secure facility for further examination. Mr. Holloway says NTSB investigators will also gather any recordings of air traffic control communications.

He also says a preliminary report is expected within 30 days of the crash.
