Columbia-based MU Health Care says unintentional injury is the leading cause of death nationwide for children ages 1 to 14.

MU Health Care is inviting you and your family to Saturday evening’s Safe Kids Day, which takes place from 6-8 pm at Clary-Shy park on West Ash. The event will feature a bike helmet giveaway, interactive safety stations and a teddy bear clinic as well. That’s where children can bring their stuffed animals with injuries in to get fixed up.

MU Health Care safety outreach coordinator Jenny Brooks describes Saturday evening’s event as a fun one designed to address a very serious topic.
