Two die in Montgomery Co. crash

Two St. Louis area natives are dead after a Montgomery County crash.

The Highway Patrol says Scott Almstedt of Catawissa tried to pass a car in a no-pass zone of Highway 19 a little south of I-70 at 7:24 p.m. Monday. His car would crash into a pickup heading the other direction as it came over the hill.

The 56-year-old Almstedt, and 54-year-old Nancy Almstedt, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver, 42-year-old Danny Malloy of New Florence, was flown to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries.
