A Jefferson City woman charged with stabbing and slashing her stepfather to death remains jailed without bond this morning.
The Cole County court describes 27-year-old Rejeane Redmon as a danger to the community. Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler identifies the victim as 80-year-old Melvin Callahan, who was found dead Friday evening at a home in the 3200 block of Lansing Creek road. That’s south of Jefferson City.
Ms. Redmon made her initial court appearance on Monday afternoon at the Cole County Courthouse. She’s being represented by Cole County public defender James Matthew Willis.
The Cole County Sheriff Department’s probable cause statement says Redmon had blood on her hands, face, legs and arms when deputies arrived on Friday and interviewed her. The court documents also allege that Redmon “provided multiple accounts” of what happened and that she continually changed her story.
The probable cause statement also says Redmon smelled of bleach while speaking to authorities. Authorities say the floor around the victim’s body had been mopped with bleach.
Cole County Prosecutor Locke Thompson tells 939 the Eagle that Redmon also goes by the name of Regina but that her legal first name is Rejeane.
