Laird Veatch will be next MU athletic director

The University of Missouri announced Tuesday that Laird Veatch will be its next Director of Athletics. Veatch has been the athletic director at the University of Memphis since 2019. Veatch worked in the MU athletic department from 1997-2002 and then with Learfield Sports in Missouri until 2010. He was reported to be a candidate for the Mizzou job in 2021 when the university hired Desiree Reed-Francois, who left in February to become the athletic director at Arizona. Prior to Memphis, Veatch worked in athletic departments at Texas, Iowa State, Kansas State and Florida. He was linebacker and four-year letterman at Kansas State in the early 90s.
