Columbia’s city council recognizes city employee for 50 years of service; he’s still working

A Columbia city employee who’s worked for the city for more than 50 years has been recognized by the city council.

Homer Smith, who works for City Utilities, began his career with the city in 1974. Mr. Smith was recognized at the start of Monday night’s city council meeting by Mayor Barbara Buffaloe, city manager De’Carlon Seewood and the council. They praise his service and work ethic.
