UPDATE: Columbia-area tornado siren struck by lightning has been repaired

Boone County emergency managers say that outdoor warning siren that was struck by lightning during last week’s storms has been repaired.

The Boone County Office of Emergency Management says the siren is in the 5400 block of North Highway 763. After it was struck by lightning, the siren went off repeatedly. It’s now working correctly.

Officials encourage any residents who believe a siren is not operating correctly to contact the Boone County Office of Emergency Management at (573) 554-7900.
